Keller’s, Inc. donation to Cape Fear Community College
helps to establish a Fire Alarm Systems Training
Registration is now open at Cape Fear Community College for
individuals interested in becoming a properly trained fire alarm designer or
technician. Keller’s, Inc. donated fire
alarm equipment to provide hands-on training for this new program. There are two different levels of courses
offered. The Basic Fire Alarm System course
is designed for individuals who are new to the fire alarm industry. The students learn basic electrical theory
and understand resistance, voltage and current.
The Advanced Fire Alarms Systems course is designed for individuals who
are fire alarm technicians or have intermediate experience in the fire alarm
industry and will focus on application and design. In both courses, student will become familiar
with the NFPA 72, the National Fire Alarm Code, NFPA 70, the National Electric
Code and the International Building Code.
Both courses are offered through Distance Learning and Online and
Continuing Education Units are awarded.
There is also an Internship Program that is designed to allow students
with no prior experience in the fire alarm industry to acquire hands-on skills
with participating fire alarm contractors and organizations.
